The material was collected in the Laptev Sea in 1993 and 1995 during expeditions ARK IX/4 and ARK XI/1 of the RV "Polarstern". The population structure of the euphausiid Thysanoessa longicaudata was largely analogous for the two years and the difference was only found in the sex structure. The life span of euphausiid in the Laptev Sea is three years. Body length ranges from 12.2 to 17. 4 mm, with a mean of 15.3-15.7 mm. The role of Atlantic waters in the distribution and population structure of T. longicaudata in the Arctic area is discussed.
